ABOUT THE AUTHOR
A. Stanford was born in Philadelphia to a mother who instilled a respect for words and a love of artistic expression in her children at an early age. Ms. Stanford retired from civil service in 2014 in order to pursue the idea of writing fantasy stories.
Moving to sunny South Florida as a young teen, Ms. Stanford was equipped with a fertile imagination and developed a life long love of books and reading. Science fiction/fantasy and super hero stories became a favorite indulgence along with music and art.
Ms. Stanford lives in Florida with her sons and Sammy, the family cat.
This is a story about what happens when two Florida teens are introduced to a whole new world through their encounter with an unlikely interstellar traveler. Vance and Marla’s typical, ordinary lives are forever changed when the princess literally lands in their backyard while fleeing strife on her home world.
Together the three teens embark on a unique adventure that takes them from sunny Miami to the far reaches of the galaxy. Along the way their experiences will teach them the meaning of friendship, loyalty and courage as they help each other confront a series of unexpected, exciting and sometimes frightening events.
Vance is bright and popular, but he is bored. In meeting and befriending Princess So’la, he realizes that he has something to say through his musical talent even as he begins to discover skills of bravery and leadership within himself that he scarcely knew he possessed. Marla is his timid and sensitive younger sister; she learns that she has a lot more to offer than she ever dreamed possible thanks to her poetic soul and compassionate heart. So’la is coming of age as danger looms for the Royal Family of Chordor. In her home world, a plot to overthrow the peaceful reign of her father, the king has forced the family into exile and So’la is secretly sent to Earth to ensure that at least one family member remains beyond the reach of a demented warlord.
For the first time in her life, So’la must come to terms with what it means to be different and how to use her special gifts in the service of others even as her own future hangs in the balance.
When other-worldly characters meet ordinary people, the result is a suspenseful, mysterious and sometimes humorous story with a musical twist that young readers can immerse themselves in for many hours of fun and adventure.
